Jake Lenahan Wins National Pitcher of the Week

What is better than getting named weekly pitcher of the NECBL? How about getting selected as the NACSB National Pitcher of the week as Newport Gulls Jake Lenahan did just that after the dominant start to his Gulls campaign this summer. This award goes to the best pitcher of the week that spans across 12 summer baseball leagues across the country, which includes the NECBL and Newport Gulls. Out of all of the pitchers across the teams in those leagues, Jake Lenahan took home the weekly crown. 

Over his three appearances thus far, Lenahan has been one of the stronger starters for this Newport rotation. Each start just gets a little more impressive for the right hander as he has tossed 16 innings total, only giving up eight hits and four runs. On top of the strong innings, Lenahan has thrown a whopping 18 strikeouts. The best outing being his last when he went 6 innings of no hit baseball in the shutout win over the Valley Blue Sox on June 20th. With a 1.13 ERA so far this summer, Lenahan leads Newport and is second in strikeouts to his teammate Will Taylor. 

With the Gulls having an off day today, look for Lenahan to continue his dominance and strength on the mound in his next start this upcoming week.
