Induction Spotlight- Adam Wilk
2007 Gull to be inducted to HOF July 18
Adam Wilk is remembered for one
thing as a Gull: being nearly unhittable.
Wilk traveled cross-country from Long
Beach State to join the Newport Gulls
for the 2007 season, and quickly
established himself as one of the most
dominant pitchers in franchise history.
In 48.3 innings with the Gulls, Adam
allowed only 25 hits – a franchise
record among qualified pitchers.
His ERA was 1.12 and opposing hitters
managed just a .153 batting average
against the lefty, also a Newport record,
as Wilk consistently overpowered
lineups with his command, poise, and
ability to keep hitters off balance.
Adam was named 1st Team All NECBL and to the NECBL All-Star team. His
dominant summer helped anchor Newport’s pitching staff and cemented
his place among the organization’s all-time greats.
Wilk later joined the list of “Gulls in the Pros,” turning his standout collegiate
and summer league career into a professional journey that spanned multiple
levels of baseball around the world. He reached Major League Baseball in
2011, making his debut with the Detroit Tigers and spending parts of two
seasons with the club.
After continuing his career internationally in the Korean Baseball
Organization, Wilk returned to the majors with the Los Angeles Angels
before later splitting time between the New York Mets and Minnesota
Twins in 2017. Over the course of his MLB career, Wilk appeared in 13
games and made five starts, becoming another shining example of a Gull
who successfully reached baseball’s highest level.
Adam resides in Buena Park, California with his three year old son Matthew.
