NEWPORT, RI – Playoff baseball is returning to Cardines Field as the Newport Gulls begin their postseason push on Friday, August 1st with their first home playoff game of the 2025 NECBL playoffs. The Gulls' first-round opponent is still to be determined, but one thing is certain: Cardines will be rocking.
The opening round is a best-of-three series, with the Gulls hosting Game 1 on Friday, August 1st and, if necessary, Game 3 on Sunday, August 3rd both scheduled for 6:35 PM. Game 2 will take place on the road Saturday, August 2nd.
Thanks to their strong regular-season performance, Newport holds home field advantage through the first two rounds of the playoffs, (if they advance past round one) meaning Gulls fans could see plenty of postseason action at Cardines Field.
With one of the most electric atmospheres in all of summer collegiate baseball, Cardines is the place to be for fans eager to support the Gulls' quest for another NECBL title.
Stay tuned to the Gulls' official channels for updates on opponent and ticket information.
Let the postseason begin—see you under the lights at Cardines!

The Newport Gulls, members of the 13-team New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL), are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, founded as the Rhode Island Gulls in 1998 in Cranston, R.I., before moving to Newport in 2001. In addition to recruiting, fielding, and developing a team of the nation's top collegiate baseball athletes and attracting 50,000 fans annually to Cardines Field, the predominantly volunteer organization strives to benefit the community via summer camps, reading programs, fundraisers, scholarships, and charitable donations – totaling over $1 million since 2001. The Gulls are eight-time champions of the NECBL – the winningest franchise in league history – and were ranked as the overall No. 1 summer collegiate baseball team in the country by Perfect Game USA in 2012.
